Fotio is a light meter for film cameras. It is designed to work entirely on your device.

The short version

Fotio collects no personal data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no third-party SDKs. It makes no network connections — nothing you do in the app ever leaves your iPhone.

Camera

Fotio uses your iPhone’s camera to provide the live viewfinder and to derive the scene exposure for metering, and to capture framed stills. The camera feed is processed on-device, in real time, and only while you are using the app. It is never recorded to a server or shared with anyone. Camera access (NSCameraUsageDescription) is the only permission Fotio requests.

Your data stays on your device

  • Captured shots are saved to an in-app gallery and stored locally on your device. They are not written to your system Photos library and are not uploaded anywhere.
  • Custom film cameras and your app preferences are also stored locally on your device.

This data lives on your device (and in your device’s own backups, if you use iCloud or encrypted device backups — those are governed by Apple, not by Fotio). Deleting the app removes this data from your device.

Third parties

Fotio does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services, and does not share data with anyone — because it does not collect or transmit data in the first place.

Children

Fotio does not collect any data from anyone, including children.
